Girls and flowers...

So I'm really interested in knowing this....
I had a friend ask me about my favorite flower.

And I honestly didn't know what to say... I couldn't recall a flower I favored... and I wondered if that was weird of me.

As a girl and a lover of all things beautiful, shouldn't I have a favorite flower?

So just like Julia Roberts in "Runaway Bride" tries to find her favorite way to eat eggs (mine is scrambled) I am on a quest to find my favorite flower.

I already know I do not like carnations. I don't know why but carnations remind me of a funeral home... and I know that I pretty much like ALL flowers... I'll never turn a flower down. But I just don't have a specific favorite...

So I want to find Joanna's favorite flower. Jamie, isn't your favorite, gerber daises? My mother's favorite is a daisy... And Kelli, what's your favorite? And Holly, isn't your favorite a lily? I can't remember exactly...

BUT!! Here's the question: What is YOUR favorite flower? I'm interested in hearing about other people and their experiences with their favorite flowers. Why is that flower your favorite?

daisies, tiger lilies, and Columbines, along with those long-stemmed lilies (i think) they are green thick stemmed, and have a white petal that rolls into itself? They are gorgeous.

Let me know when you find your fave, friend!

Angie, niiice. My Mom is partial to the white daisies as well. I admit, I looked up hydrangeas on the internet. Those are REALLY pretty.
Kelli, you are too cute. That is fun that you like those flowers. I saw some REALLY pretty tiger lilies when I was in Oshima. They were goregous. I think you would have liked them.
Jamie, gerbers don't live long? Or flowers in general.
I think I really like lilacs... but those don't last long either. One time, Lorraine and I found a lilac bush near Valley and I convinced her to go with me late at night to cut a few branches off... we woke up the next morning so proud of ourselves, except our natural flower arrangment was housing about four thousand little gnats and bugs that released themselves the next morning when they woke up... oops! That'll teach me. :)

I prefer the long-stemmed calla lily. Just because it's simple and elagant and under-stated. If you were wondering.

Daisies - because my gramma was named Daisy, so my love for them are because of her. Dad and I both love mini-carnations...they're just too cute :) and besides these, I really love many kinds! Bright colors just make me smile, but not as much as you! XOXOX Such a blessing to have you home!

Tadpole, thank you for commenting. I'm so impressed that you can type so nicely for my cousin Hannah. Hannah, I love that you love calla lilies... ohh they are elegant.

I'll answer your question. Keep in mind that I'm answering this with an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality.

I really like alstroemerias. Variety of colors. Shape. I can't explain why. They're beautiful.

I love yellow roses because that is the first flower Dave ever gave me. I had 36 yellow roses in my wedding bouquet - one for each month Dave and I had been together. Now that total would be up to 73. I hope you are able to find your favorite flower.

CACTUS FLOWERS!!!! for all they represent: the cactus is full of thorns and seems like such a hard, angry plant, but it does bloom into a beautiful flower (even if only for a day and it dies at the sight of the sun!). plus my cactus is from grammy, who got it from her mom who brought it back from some vacation for your dad. confused yet? =)

My fave is stargazer lily- we had them in our wedding, and that's why eden's name is eden lily. i also like the ditch lilies that grow here in iowa (the pretty orange ones!)

kelli- you're talking about calla lilies, the ones that roll into themselves...

Ohhh I love that I asked this question. It's so much fun. Megan, I have to see some wedding pictures. How have I gone this long and not seen them? Do you have one or two you can send me? I also want to see your bouquet. :)

Shadley, you delight me. I am going to google search stargazer lilies and you should send me a wedding picture TOO!

Leah, I was laughing so hard at your story... I THINK I followed it. I am interested in your cactus flowers... that is fun. I actually don't know if I knew that about cacti. (p.s. when are we getting together?)

I was in Bath and Body and I found a fragrance called "Magnolia" and I realized I might like magnolias... so I searched for those on the internet. The problem is.... I might have to SMELL all the flowers before I can make my decision. :) I'll be sure to blog about me loitering in a flower shop, the cops coming, and my night spent in jail. ha ha!

Keep the flowers coming this is fun.

Since I am officially hanging out in the chemo section of the cancer center and my Dad naps for 80% of the time (which is good) I decided to make friends with the nurses. I decided it was either make friends with everyone OR eat my weight in m&m's at the desk and watch days of our lives... without further ado; the "first interview" with my new friends.

Kathie- likes LILACS.
Michelle- Gerber Daisies
Debbie- Lilacs

Debbie, "Are lilacs a flower? They're from a bush?"
All of us stared at each other... Kathie, "I thiiiink they're still a flower."

Oh the joys of new friends.
